Food, Wine and Fun

Winter is a great time of year to visit Sonoma County and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and the bounty of food and wine this area has to offer.   Always a favorite of mine and something I look forward to is crab season.  If you’re a fan of this delectable delight, you might want to head to the coast and enjoy the Friday night crab feed dinners at The Tides Wharf restaurant in Bodega Bay. They only last a few more weeks and reservations are always a good idea if you want to make sure you get a spot at the table. If you’re interested in some New England style seafood come join Spoonbar in Healdsburg, for the next Nomad dinner, on February 24 and 25. They’ll offer a New England Seafood Shack menu created by Chef Louis Maldonado and his amazing kitchen staff.  It promises to be an evening of food, wine and fun along with the creative cocktail menu of mixologist Tara Heffernon.

If fermentation is your thing, Healdsburg SHED will be hosting Kombucha, Kefir Water and Lacto-Fermented Sodas. This workshop takes place on February 22nd from 1-4 pm.  Your host for the class is Jordan Lancer, a fermentation master that is passionate about his craft. I know it promises to be a fun, educational, and entertaining afternoon.  Go to their website to sign-up.

And for all of you wine lovers out there, Wine Road’s 36th annual Barrel Tasting event featuring more than 100 wineries in Northern Sonoma County takes place February 28-March 2, and March 7-9, from 11 am – 4 pm each day. It’s all about the WINE and many wineries offer “futures” on their barrel samples. You can buy your tickets on the Wine Road website for this fun wine lover’s event featuring the beautiful Alexander, Dry Creek, and Russian River Valleys.

Need a day to let someone else show you all the food and wine treasures around Healdsburg? Join us at Savor Healdsburg Food Tours for a fun food and wine tasting tour.  We’ll share some of the best of wine country’s bites, sites and sips and share all the “must dos” while visiting the area.
